Recognizing Philanthropic Businesses

The clients of Bloom Communications are inspiring. Maintaining generosity in business and giving back to the Austin community and beyond showcase the values we seek in our clients. It is because of those behaviors that these two clients earned their airtime on KEYE TV’s We Are Austin. Through our work with them and a partnership with Austin Gives, a division of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Evans Dermatology Partners and QuantumDigital got to share the charitable efforts their companies and employees are most passionate about. By donating at least 1% of their profits back to the community and their involvement with Austin Gives, these businesses exemplify a philanthropic business model.

Evans Dermatology Partners

As an Austin based business with three locations, Evans Dermatology Partners has grown with the community, and therefore thanks the community for its support over the years by giving back. Doctors and staff participate in many different ways, through personal time as well as monetarily through the practice.

“Being doctors, we have a natural connection to our patients in the community,” said Dr. Colby Evans, dermatologist and owner of Evans Dermatology Partners. “Building on that with volunteerism, giving has been a really important part of our practice. Our physicians work in volunteer clinics that provide pre-care for patients who don’t have insurance, and they volunteer as teachers at Dell Medical School to help new dermatologists…new doctors, understand the skin. We participate in schools in our area. Of course with giving, we see a lot of children and families with our practice, but also with shade structures for playgrounds in the area. All those things help us to be better doctors because we’re more connected to our patients and community.”

During the interview, Dr. Venessa Peña-Robichaux specifically spoke of her experience volunteering with Camp Discovery, a free camp for kids living with skin disease sponsored by the American Academy of Dermatology. As the Chair of Board of Directors, Dr. Colby Evans also spoke about his involvement with the National Psoriasis Foundation and ways it allows him and his family to make a difference for those suffering from psoriasis and psoriasis related ailments.

QuantumDigital

Giving back is at the core of what QuantumDigital does. With service as the main goal in everything they do, from clients to community, employees take pride in their involvement with internal and external projects. Just a few of the organizations they have supported include The Austin Disaster Relief Network, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, and Salvation Army.

“It’s part of the culture,” said Eric Cosway, EVP and CMO, QuantumDigital. “We have to align and get everyone think of Austinites and the greater good for our city. The big thing about our business is we talk about our why, and why we’re in business is to serve others and make things simple. That comes from our CEO who’s really passionate about giving back to the community.”

In 2011, the Bastrop fires were an opportunity for QuantumDigital to use their resources such as warehouses to collect and trucks to distribute relief supplies like clothing, food, and furniture to families. QuantumDigital encourages all businesses to be part of the Austin Gives organization and to take advantage of the Chamber of Commerce program to engage employees and give everyone a greater sense of purpose.

Austin Gives

As a member ourselves, Bloom Communications also hopes more businesses join Austin Gives and commit to donating 1% or more of their profits to the community. Not only does this benefit our city, but it generates a network of businesses with heart and recognizes business philanthropy. As a company that places that value at the forefront, we appreciate the combined effort of all the businesses involved and look forward to seeing the improvements we can all make together.
