Blooming with Purpose: Our Q2 2024 Volunteering Recap

At Bloom Communications, we are fueled by a passion for the greater good. We take an active role in our communities by working with mission-driven organizations because we believe it is imperative to serve others.

Over the past quarter, our commitment has translated into a range of impactful volunteer efforts that not only supported vital causes but also strengthened our team’s bond and purpose. We are excited to share the highlights of our recent volunteering initiatives, spotlighting the incredible organizations we had the privilege to work with and the tangible difference we made together. Our four Austin-based team members volunteered 28 hours across three nonprofit organizations this past quarter.

Join us as we reflect on our collective achievements and celebrate the spirit of giving that defines our company culture.

The Caring Place

In April 2024, our Austin team members took time away from the workday to volunteer at The Caring Place. During their visit, they organized merchandise for The Caring Place’s two thrift shops, a crucial task that helped sustain the organization’s operations.

“The Caring Place is a wonderful organization and having the opportunity to work behind the scenes to sort and organize donated items alongside some of their full-time volunteers warmed my heart. Knowing that the community comes together to support those in need fills my cup, every time,” says Melanie Martin, Bloom’s Client Support Director.

Established in 1985, The Caring Place relies on its thrift shops to cover all operational costs and continue providing vital assistance to those in need. By supporting neighbors with necessities such as food, utility payments, rent, transportation, and medical aid, The Caring Place plays a pivotal role in fostering community well-being.

 AGE Central Texas

Several members of our Austin team had the rewarding opportunity to volunteer at AGE of Central Texas, where they helped at the Thrive Center, playing games like Bingo and Jeopardy with the elderly.

“I’ve known for many years how important AGE is as a resource for our community, older adults, and their caregivers. But being able to support their Thrive Center, where older adults who need support and enrichment throughout the day go for community and care, really brought this to life for me. The service and care they provide there is a critical lifeline–for both the clients and their families,” says Carrie Straub, Bloom’s Director of Strategic Initiatives.

AGE of Central Texas is a regional nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals throughout their aging journey, offering a range of educational programs and support services. By helping older adults and their caregivers navigate the complexities of aging and caregiving, AGE of Central Texas plays a vital role in enhancing their quality of life.

Hand to Hold

Our Austin-based team had the opportunity to volunteer with Hand to Hold, where we prepared 500 necklaces as part of their Milestone Bead Program. This program celebrates each special step in a family’s NICU journey, including Birthstone Beads, Discharge Class, and 100 days, among others.

“Volunteering with Hand to Hold was an incredibly rewarding experience. Renli was fantastic to work with, accommodating our team’s schedule and offering flexible volunteer options. We opted for a take-home project, which proved to be a seamless and enjoyable way to support NICU families. From project pickup to delivery, the entire process was smooth. We’re eager to partner with Hand to Hold on future volunteer opportunities,” says Bloom’s Operations Manager, Sarah Raddi.

Hand to Hold is a national nonprofit 501 (c)(3) headquartered in Austin, Texas, that provides personalized emotional support, educational resources, and community before, during, and after a NICU stay. They work day in and day out to remove barriers for all NICU parents to receive critical emotional support at no cost.
