Established Marketing and Communications Professional Brings Fresh Perspective to Well Known Mental Health Organization’s Board of Directors
AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 1, 2019) – Bloom Communications, an integrated communications agency specializing in marketing, public relations, and market research, today announced its Founder and President Brianna McKinney was appointed to the board of directors for NAMI Central Texas, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all individuals affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy programs.
A thought leader in marketing, public relations, sales and brand management and an avid advocate of mental health in the workplace, McKinney will use her position to propel NAMI Central Texas’ strategic plan, which includes increasing programs, diversifying funding, and expanding the organization’s visibility and influence.
“One in five Americans lives with a mental health condition. It’s therefore critical for leaders in our communities to proactively create environments in which people are comfortable talking openly about ways they or a loved one may be struggling, ,” says McKinney. “NAMI’s work is extremely important for the resiliency of all the places Central Texans work, learn, pray, and socialize and I’m excited that I have the opportunity to play a part in changing the conversation.”
Founded in 1984, NAMI Central Texas, formerly NAMI Austin, is a member of the largest grassroots mental health organization in the United States, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Through innovative education, support, and advocacy programs, NAMI Central Texas is changing the way our community addresses mental health.
As someone who has her own lived experience with mental health challenges, McKinney joins the board with a deep respect for the organization’s mission. A strong advocate of mental health, McKinney not only seeks to support NAMI Central Texas’ mission, but looks to spread the word and end the stigma around mental health for her friends, family, employees, clients, and the community at large.
