Bloom Communications President Brianna McKinney Appointed to AGE of Central Texas Board of Directors

Seasoned Marketing and Communications Strategist Brings Nonprofit and Healthcare Expertise to Organization Helping Older Adults Thrive

AUSTIN, TEXAS (July 20, 2018) – Bloom Communications, an agency specializing in marketing, public relations and research-based consulting, today announced Founder and President Brianna McKinney was appointed to the board of directors for AGE of Central Texas, a regional nonprofit organization dedicated to tackling the challenges of aging with expert solutions.

McKinney’s hands-on experience leading marketing and communications campaigns in the nonprofit, healthcare and health and wellness industries is an asset to AGE as the organization builds on its more than three decades of service providing education, resources and support to older adults and caregivers in Central Texas.

“Today, people are living longer lives and our aging population is therefore growing exponentially in Central Texas,” McKinney said. “According to the Aging Services Council of Central Texas, by 2040 over half a million older adults age 65 and older will live in the Austin area and comprise nearly one-fifth of the Central Texas population.”

“The mission of AGE of Central Texas is to make aging a positive and triumphant journey for everyone,” McKinney added.  ”While many nonprofits focus on caring for our seniors, AGE is different because the organization also recognizes the needs of caregivers and provides them with resources. As part of the board, I’m excited about the opportunity to work together to propel visibility for AGE as an essential caregiver resource.”

Founded in 1986, AGE works to support and enrich the lives of Central Texas’ aging population, offering a wide variety of therapeutic and social activities like gardening, art therapy, games and exercise at adult day health care centers, while also providing educational services in caregiver education, early memory loss, health equipment lending and more.

McKinney joins the board with a distinct understanding of the operational and resource challenges that nonprofits face along with the dynamic importance of communications to impact fundraising, volunteer support and overall organizational awareness.

Active in multiple facets of the community, McKinney also volunteers her professional time on two marketing task forces — for the National Psoriasis Foundation and Hand to Hold. In addition to serving in these capacities, she is an active member of Ballet Austin Guild.
