This is a client-facing role based in our Portland, Oregon office. You will work directly with the entire Bloom Communications team to help manage an array of clients across a variety of industries. Your work to support business to business, business to consumer, and nonprofit organizations through creative public relations campaigns will have an enormous effect on increasing the positive impact we can make for our clients – and our communities.

Responsibilities

Client Engagement:

  • Be a purposeful and diligent representative, serving to advance and protect client brands
  • Cultivate and nurture consultative relationships with clients, relationships based on trust and mutual respect

Strategy:

  • Create PR plans and media lists that strategically align with client business objectives and brand initiatives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with national press, regional and local press, freelance journalists, long lead magazines, and key dailies and blogs
  • Identify meaningful KPIs to benchmark and measure overall campaign results

Execution:

  • Craft brand messaging and press kit materials
  • Proactively conceive strategic stories in addition to promoting client business milestones
  • Conduct media outreach in a manner that creates win-win situations for our clients and our partners in the media
  • Secure media coverage in newspapers, magazines, broadcast outlets and blogs
  • Partner with Bloom marketing team members to integrate PR and marketing efforts to deliver on-brand, on-message, integrated communications campaigns for clients

Who You Are

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • Talented at the art of client service, with 6 to 8 years of public relations campaign and account management experience
  • Eager to proactively mentor other team members
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging research data to strengthen story pitches
  • Strong media relations skills with proven campaign results in print, online, broadcast, and radio outlets
  • Superior relationship development, management, and networking skills
  • Comfort and experience in consulting with executive leadership
  • Love of writing
  • Capable of juggling multiple projects at one time while maintaining high quality output and meeting deadlines
  • A curious, self-motivated, flexible, and creative problem solver
  • Listen actively and enjoy paying close attention to detail
